Veritas Vision is a social enterprise that envisions a healthy, self-sufficient, equitable, and sustainable world. We are combating poverty and climate change by financing access to clean and stable electricity. The energy poverty problem facing Nigeria’s urban poor and rural dwellers is complex, so the solution needs to work on many levels. Veritas Vision is building a social distribution network that provides access to clean, reliable, affordable, safe, and quality electricity for low-income families and communities. We bring premium-quality solar products with flexible payment plans and prompt after-sales services straight to their doorsteps to help them save their hard-earned money and time, improve their health and the general qualities of their lives. We do this via a network of local micro-social-entrepreneurs – “Our Visioneers”. Visioneers bring our premium-quality and easy to use solar lamps and home systems straight to the doorsteps of our beneficiaries. This face-to-face distribution network allows us to build relationships and trust with our customers. It also means we gain regular feedback about the performance of our products and the needs of the families we serve, so we can keep providing the right products at the right price. Visioneers educate families on how solar energy works, how to use the product, and how it can help improve their productivity and quality of life. This empowers families to create cleaner, safer and healthier homes. Visioneers also offer our beneficiaries the choice to pay cash or via flexible installment payment plans according to their income. They also offer our beneficiaries prompt after-sales services. This allows families to save part of their hard-earned income, save time, open their businesses longer, and allowing their kids study longer at night for a brighter future. Research has proven that improving access to finance for poor families not only accelerates economic growth but reduces income inequality and poverty.
