Nigeria SEZ Investment Company Limited is a Nigeria-focused Special Economic Zone (SEZ) infrastructure investment platform, set up to develop and invest in SEZ projects across Nigeria.The Federal Executive Council of the Federal Government of Nigeria approved NSEZCO in June 2018, as the public-private partnership (PPP) special purpose vehicle responsible for delivering Project MINE (Made in Nigeria for Export). Project MINE is a Presidential initiative under the supervision of the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, to develop world class Special Economic Zones across Nigeria and create an enabling environment for sustainable and globally competitive export-oriented SEZ operations in Nigeria. NSEZCO was incorporated in June 2018 as a limited liability company under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA), with the FGN represented by the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), holding 25% of the shares in NSEZCO at incorporation. The remaining 75% shareholding was held in trust by A&O Secretarial Services Limited, the Company Secretaries, on behalf of a group of development finance institutions who had indicated interest in co-investing with the FGN in NSEZCO (the Strategic Investment Partners), whilst they completed internal investment approval processes for their shareholding in NSEZCO. The Strategic Investment Partners are African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), Bank of Industry Limited (BOI), Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) and African Development Bank (AfDB). With a capital structure which includes the Federal Government of Nigeria and leading development finance institutions, NSEZCO plays a key role in harnessing its shareholders’ capital commitments to develop strategic, economically viable and world-class SEZs projects, whilst creating long-term economic and social value for all its stakeholders, including the Nigerian people.
