The station is manned by competent firemen. They stop fire outbreaks both within and outside the university. They also perform other rescue operations, such as rescuing a child from a well. They also give lectures and train people on fire safety.

I salute the brave men of the OAU Fire Service for their prompt response to a distress call. There response time deserves a 7-star rating!
The only functional fire station for the university and Ife township. Kudos to the fire men some of who have paid the supreme sacrifice in the course of their duty.
