The Kaduna State Government in partnership with World Bank and Rockefeller Foundation are launching another Click-On Kaduna Programme as part of the strategic initiative on creating employment opportunities and enhancing the States’ digital economy. The Digital Skills Programme is a follow-on programme to the Digital Entrepreneurship Programme which is designed to catalyze the use of information and communication technology (ICT) for economic opportunity creation. The programme is being implemented under the context of the Kaduna State Economic Transformation Programme-for-Results (PforR) Project and aims to support the PforR objectives by developing human capital in the ICT sector, which is crucial for attracting private investments and for integrating Kaduna into the global digital economy. The ICT sector in Kaduna is nascent yet vibrant with strong commitment from the Government. A core component of the Kaduna State Development Plan (KSDP) 2016-2020 is to position Kaduna as a destination for business investment to create jobs, especially among young people. ICT- related industries such as mobile and web application development, are considered as one of the seven areas with significant potential for driving regional economic growth and jobs creation in the state. 180 participants are expected to participate in the programme with equal gender representation across a Male and Female Cohorts. The benefits for participation in the programme include: Access to Internship opportunities in top technology outfits through facilitation by programme partners Access to Local and Global Freelancing platforms to earn extra income by working remotely Increased employment visibility to improve the potential for full and productive employment opportunities through the programme.
