PROBLEM: In Nigeria, There are 12 million Children 15 years and below who have either dropped out of School or have never been to one. Since this is the highest number of unschooled kids in any country, UNESCO had to declare Nigeria as the World’s Illiteracy Headquarters. 60 Million Adults can neither read nor write in Nigeria. Also out of the 1.8 million people that wrote JAMB’s 2019 UTME; all 91 Government owned Universities can admit only about 470,000 kids. This means 1.3 million students are going nowhere because their majority cannot afford to pay an average of 1 million Naira which most of the 79 Private Universities charge as school fees. According to a 2018 World Bank Report titled “Learning to Realise Education’s Promise”; “Children from the poorest families are less likely to start school. Those who do start school are more likely to drop out early, though at varying rates across countries. The poorest people are the most affected by any marginal increase in or contraction of public spending on education. Not surprisingly, then, making school more affordable ...in terms of defraying direct costs increases the school participation of children from poorer families.” SOLUTION: According to the World Bank website “Education is a powerful driver of development and one of the strongest instruments for reducing poverty and improving health, gender equality, peace, and stability”. Another World Bank 2017 Report titled “Sharing Higher Education’s Promise beyond the Few in Sub-Saharan Africa” states that ”…well-designed financial aid programs, especially student loan schemes that appropriately target students from low-income households, are key to ensuring and improving equitable access….” “…unsubsidized loans may improve equity more effectively than highly subsidized loans." At scholarship.ng, we are committed to ending chronic illiteracy and poverty in Nigeria through our various Student Financial Aid Services,
